Summertime Fun for Purple Butterfly

This summer, Purple Butterfly has attended two outdoor events: Chroma63 in Waterloo and the Clear Lake Farmer’s Market!  Both were fun and fulfilling days in the sun for us!

Chroma63 was a first time event for Waterloo.  It was a music festival for punk, metal and rap bands with good food, skateboarders and of course art vendors.  The event also happened to fall on my birthday!  It was also the longest event we’ve ever attended and we did very well.  So many people complemented and bought our work and I even got a custom order out of it (possible blog on that coming soon..)  My Dad and other loved ones came by to see us and wished me a happy birthday!  Mom even came up with a fun idea to have a 26% discount (the age I was turning lol) on all of my items.  After a very hot but very successful day in Waterloo, we packed up our stuff and headed to George’s in Cedar Falls for a birthday/business celebration dinner!

We also attended the Clear Lake Farmer’s Market just this past weekend and we met so many fun and lovely characters there!  Our set up was right next to a peach seller who was a fun, sweet lady!  Every time someone came into her booth and asked her how she was doing, she always said “just peachy”, how cute is that?  A couple people walked into our booth because they were inspired by what we were selling.  One was a retired art teacher from New York, who every time her or her students would get paint on their clothes, she would paint something over it so she loved to see my work!  Another gal showed me a picture of a fair project that her daughter was working on.  It was a jean jacket that she was crocheting sleeves onto as well as adding on patches she designed herself, it was so cool!  One of my favorite people that we met this day, was a lady who used to be a marketing consultant, and you could tell right away.  She grabbed one of the hats I made, said she loved it, and stood out in front of our booth waving it around.  She made people come over and made sure they saw the hat!  She of course bought it before she left!  Haha, she was fabulous!

our fabulous new “marketing manager” haha!

We also saw some people we’ve met before.  Remember the Oopsa-Daisy custom order bag I made last year?  The woman I made it for stopped by our booth, checking in on us and said that bag still worked perfectly.  It was great to hear that and see her again!  I also ran into my boyfriend’s Mom and one of his sisters!  I was so happy to see both of them!  I gave them hugs and the first thing my boyfriend’s Mom said was “Oh my gosh I need to give you your birthday gift!”  And they later both showed up with it, haha!  I love them!  Clear Lake is one of my favorite places, so it makes sense that the Farmer’s Market was a lovely day for us.

It’s safe to say that summer 2025 for Purple Butterfly has not only been successful so far but fun!  It’s been great meeting these new people, attending these events, and spending time with each other.
